Dr. MullHi Buffs,

I hope this message finds you well. We have had an excellent start to this school year, and it has been great to see that the energy and excitement has carried through to this midpoint in the semester. I have enjoyed meeting so many of you throughout the semester at events ranging from student organization meetings, various campus and game day activities, and even out while at grocery stores—this Buff community is truly special.

In my free time, I have been enjoying getting to know the great state of Colorado. I have a tourist heart and as Boulder is known as a city with some of the best restaurants, mountain views and more in the area, I have loved trying new places and discovering them along my journey. Getting out and exploring the local community is a great way to connect beyond campus.

Whether you live on or off campus, engaging in the local community is an important aspect of your education here at CU Boulder. In addition to supporting Boulder businesses and attending events, service opportunities can add value to your journey and enhance your involvement. Volunteering is transformative, allowing you to learn beyond the classroom. In the Division of Student Affairs, the Volunteer Resource Center has a team ready to help you find opportunities that match both your interests and schedule. The skills you develop through these opportunities are ones employers find critical to success. This can include communication, problem solving, collaboration and critical thinking. Additionally, the Career Services office is here to help you narrow options, develop skills and learn how to apply your experiences to various career paths.

By engaging in your local community, be mindful of your actions and consider how others may be affected. You have the opportunity to reflect the Colorado Creed. We all play an important role in moving our society forward and I am grateful for your part in it.

As you finish this fall semester and look ahead to spring, I encourage you to spend time considering how you can be active members of your community.

Buffs, I look forward to hearing more about how you are choosing to get involved, both on campus and through civic engagement. In the meantime, if you have any recommendations for things to do in Boulder, please email me at . The first 10 students to reply will receive a limited-edition Buff t-shirt. Let me know what makes this place special to you!

Be well and have a great rest of the week Buffs. I look forward to seeing you and your families this week.

Warmly,
Dr. D’Andra Mull
Vice Chancellor for Student AffairsÂ
