Carsharing for CU Staff - Save Money and the Environment
Did you know that Â鶹ÊÓƵ staff who opt out of bringing a vehicle to campus have a transportation alternative? Car sharing is available 24/7, with small cars, hybrids, trucks and four-wheel drive vehicles available on campus and throughout central Boulder and Denver. Signing up for a car sharing membership gives you the option to borrow a car for a short period of time to run a quick errand or go to an off-campus meeting or appointment, without having to rely on a personal vehicle.
Car sharing is a great option for those who don’t own a car or choose not to bring their personal vehicle to campus, especially those who regularly use sustainable transportation options (bus/bike/walk) to get to and from work.
Carsharing provides convenient access to cars and helps to reduce congestion and traffic on campus while supporting the goals of the University's sustainable transportation plan.
There are currently two car sharing options available to staff on campus:
is a local, mission-driven nonprofit org that gives you access to a car when you need one without incurring car costs, parking, insurance, maintenance or even gas. As a member you have access to several vehicles located on campus, as well as our complete fleet of vehicles throughout Boulder and Denver.
offers students, faculty and staff a sustainable transportation option that provides fun and freedom, as well as environmental benefits for the campus. As the world’s leading car-sharing network, Zipcar lets you drive a variety of cars on demand with vehicles located all over the world.
Both local car share services have updated their cleaning protocols andÌý programs in response to the pandemic. Supported by the CU Environmental Center, both organizations offer subsidized membership fees and ride credits to staff.
