CU leaders give city officials spring COVID-readiness updates
The university provided the Boulder City Council with a recent update on the campus’s spring semester plans and COVID-19 readiness.
The Jan. 19 update by Chief Operating Officer Patrick O’Rourke and Associate Vice Chancellor of Health and Wellness Services Jennifer McDuffie was part of campus leadership’s ongoing efforts to collaborate with city and regional partners in response to the challenges presented by the global pandemic.
On the first Tuesday of each month, council members receive a COVID-19 briefing from Boulder County Public Health Director Jeff Zayach, CU Boulder and other regional partners as needed.
Kim Calomino, director of local government and community relations in the Office of Government and Community Engagement (OGCE), provides administrative support to O’Rourke and other campus leaders as they engage with the citizens of Boulder County.
“We value the opportunity to share how we are responding to the pandemic as a partner to the city, the county and the state,” she said. “Our collaborations with the city and with Boulder County Public Health enable us to share information, data and the latest guidance from the state as we work to protect our communities.”
On Jan. 21, O’Rourke and McDuffie provided a similar update to the Boulder community along with city and county officials during a city-sponsored briefing and fielded questions from the public.
The city briefings will continue every third Thursday of the month, 3-4 p.m., and . CU Boulder will participate as a partner as requested by the city.
