Sewall Hall was the first residence hall built on campus, in 1934, and was originally for women only. It is named after Joseph A. Sewall, the first president of the University of Colorado. Sewall was designed by Charles Z. Klauder, the renowned architect who established the university's Tuscan vernacular style, and SewallÌýis considered the most complete expression of Klauder's vision. Students love Sewall for its charm, history, and strong sense of place.
Sewall isÌýconveniently located close to Norlin Library, Macky Auditorium, and the Recreation Center. ManyÌýuniversity classroom buildings are also within easy walking distance. Sewall has its own dining hall, all rooms and classrooms in Sewall have wirelessÌýinternet,Ìýand there are multiple study lounges throughout the building.
There are three classrooms in Sewall in which all Stories and SocietiesÌýRAP classes are held. When not in use for classes, students are welcome to use the rooms for studying.
Harding Lounge is the main lounge and study area in Sewall Hall. There are open-accessÌýlounge areas in eachÌýwingÌýof the building. When not in use for classes, students may also useÌýclassrooms in Sewall for studying.
Sewall is home to 330 students and features nearly 200 rooms, four lounges, four classrooms, a full-service dining hall, and a convenient market. Sewall is a co-educational building. Sewall has primarily singles and doubles, with a limited number of triples and quads. All rooms have wireless internet access. The rooms are furnished with a bed, desk, desk chair, dresser, closet, and trash cans. Please see the Housing Department's for more information about Sewall Hall. Sewall’s dining hall is on the ground floor of the building and is open to all students who have a meal plan with Dining Services. Stories and SocietiesÌýRAP faculty enjoy holding their office hours in the dining hall with their students.
All CU students get a bus pass which gives them free access to all city buses in the Denver/Boulder metro area, including the light rail trains in Denver. , which includes schedules and trip planners.
