Podcast: Scaling and synthesis

There is a growing movement to bring archaeological evidence to bear in discussions of contemporary issues. To do this, archaeologists must commit to a uniformitarian approach that seeks to identify fundamental processes and dynamics that occur in any society. In a recent podcast in the Santa Fe Institute Complexity series, Social Reactors Project PI Scott Ortman discusses settlement scaling theory as an example of how this can be done and discusses what it will take for archaeology to achieve this vision. You can listen to the podcast . Other of the Social Reactors Project team have also contributed to the series. A full list of episodes is available at .
