On behalf of the Research and Innovation Office, Dr. Tanya Ennis invites scholars, researchers, creators and innovators to help launch a Scholar Learning Community focused on 1) applying for justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (JEDIA) funding opportunities, 2) developing JEDIA-related plans to meet agency requirements (e.g., NSF Broader Impacts Plans, Dept of Energy PIER plans), and 3) fostering a safe space for scholars to engage in mutual learning and support. Dr. Ennis is excited to work with听scholars across all colleges, schools, and departments! We invite you to participate in the Scholar Learning Community and three workshops offered this semester, providing a unique opportunity to connect with others across the university.

Register below for one or more of the three workshops supported by the university鈥檚 DEI Impact Grant with matching funds from RIO. Up to 40 participants will receive $250 for participation in all three workshops and in the Scholar Learning Community. This session will provide an overview of how to plan and generate ideas for broader impact research and activities. Participants will learn to utilize valuable resources like the ARIS toolkit and gain insight into the guiding principles and evaluation criteria set by the National Science Foundation. We will also review evaluation tool options, assessment rubric, and connect you with resources for successful planning

Designed to catalyze new areas of research, scholarship and creative work, the Seed Grant Program awards nearly $1 million annually to Boulder faculty across all disciplines. At this event, RIO will convene a panel of previous Seed Grant recipients; attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and hear from previous grantees about their experience securing a Research & Innovation Seed Grant.

Please note that the Packard Fellowships are a听limited submission funding opportunity,听requiring an internal competition to determine the applicant(s) that will submit proposals. Are you planning to submit a proposal for a听? Join RIO Proposal Writer Donna Axel at this brief kick-off introduction to RIO鈥檚 NEH Fellowship Peer Editing Workshop Series. From January through early April, participants will draft proposals and participate in one peer editing workshop (2-5 faculty max per group) to hone the narrative portion of their NEH Fellowship applications before the NEH April 9, 2025听deadline.

• Who: T/TT Arts and Humanities Faculty听and Social Sciences Faculty pursuing humanistic research who are interested in applying for a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowships (deadline: April 9, 2025).
• When:听Thursday, January 23, 2025: 10-10:30 a.m. MT

Because this is a series, in addition to this Intro event on January 23, we ask faculty to commit to the following:

• Attend the January 29听NEH Fellowship Categories & Requirements 1-hour webinar
• Meet 1-1 with Donna before February 18 (unless you have already met with her)
• Prepare a draft narrative for review by committed colleagues by early to mid-March
• Peer review 1-4听proposals
• Attend one peer review workshop in early- to mid-March (TBD by faculty)

RIO Proposal Writer Donna Axel will demystify the solicitation, bring attention to key details for developing a strong proposal, and share sample winning narratives. This is a great opportunity to ask any questions you might have before beginning your draft!

In advance of the workshop, faculty will exchange drafts to consider potential improvements using the NEH categories and requirements.
