During the 2021-2022 school year a Public Achievement of Centaurus High School students formed around the collective vision to start an Ethnic Studies course at their school.Ìý Over the course of the school year students not only brought awareness to what ethnic studies is and why we need it in all schools, but they also collaborated with teachers, admin and district officials to begin the process of creating Boulder Valley School District's (BVSD) first ever Ethnic Studies course.Ìý This article highlights student voices on the importance of learning though a lense of culture, race, identity and ethnicity and highlights how this youth led work is situated within a larger national movement for ethnic studies in schools.Ìý
