CU Psychology and Neuroscience Professor John Hewitt (Behavioral Genetics) was in the news, being interviewed for an article in CU Boulder Today about some research showing increased marijuana use in states where cannabis has been legalized compared to those where it has not. The study, conducted at the University of Minnesota and CU Boulder and published in the journal Addiction, examined 3,400 adult twins and found that with pairs of identical twins, one of whom was living in a state with legalized cannabis and one who was not, the twin living in a legalized-cannabis state was 20% more likely to use marijuana.
