This project surrounds the fictitious character of Jack who is a poet and who was recently diagnosed with Schizophrenia. In this short, we see Jack experience many symptoms of Schizophrenia and become a part of his life in understanding what Schizophrenia can feel like.

I AM A POET surrounds the character of Jack who is in the process of writing his second poetry book. Due to a genetic predisposition and the stress of turning out his second book on time, Jack develops Schizophrenia. In this short, we see Jack experience auditory hallucinations and develop delusional thoughts. Jack starts to withdraw from friends and his boyfriend when he comes to the understanding that they do not get what he is saying. Throughout the short, we hear messages from his editor showing that he is disconnecting from society and secluding himself in his room. The short ends with Jack throwing all his plants on the ground and in a way throwing his old life away. He becomes so scared and upset that the people around him did not share in his thoughts that he starts to reach his breaking point. This short dispels the idea that all Schizophrenics are violent in showing Jack withdraw from people rather than latch out at them when they don’t understand him.
