My ancestors lived in the mysterious Colorado ghost town St. Elmo at its peak. For this project, I asked my dad to tell the stories of our family while I visited the town to capture what it looks like today.

St. Elmo, Colorado is one of the most interesting and well-preserved ghost towns in the West. My ancestors lived there at the town’s peak in the 1880’s, where they owned a boarding house for the miners who worked in the Mary Murphy Mine. For this project, I visited St. Elmo and took photos of all the old buildings that are still standing, and interviewed my dad about our family history with the town.
