Meet LA Mentors

During her first semester as an LA Mentor, she learned how to lead by creating space for others and building a collaborative and relaxed learning community. She accomplished this by weekly goal setting and reflection.

Used to struggle to see himself as a leader, but during his first semester as an LA Mentor, he experienced enormous personal growth within a supportive learning community and found himself more able to embody leadership roles.

Found that being an LA Mentor was a great opportunity to connect with a tight-knit community and develop and practice effective communication skills.

Was drawn to this role because she has always enjoyed connecting with others, and she found that she continued to develop these skills and her abilities to build community as an LA Mentor. She is excited that the skills she’s learned will continue to impact many areas of her future personal and professional life!

Has found after two semesters of being an LA Mentor that it’s so special to watch her mentees’ growth over time, and that by building these relationships with her mentees, she was also positively impacted. It’s a different kind of relationship than she experienced as an LA, and she has really enjoyed these kinds of interactions.

Appreciated how as a first-semester LA Mentor he learned to challenge his assumptions and leverage observational skills and creative thinking to reconsider what it means to be an LA, a student, and a Leader.

Was initially afraid to apply to be an LA Mentor but by the end of her first semester felt proud of how she had developed confidence and flexibility with planning and facilitating discussions--skills she anticipates to be applicable to her new job.

Appreciated the tight LA Mentor Community, and after being an LA Mentor felt his studying and learning skills became more efficient and effective. He also appreciated the opportunity to develop as a leader and teammate, essential life skills for his future.

Joined the Mentor program to develop leadership skills, improve as an LA, and develop skills for her future career. She has appreciated the opportunities to learn how to work with different people and how to work through unexpected challenges in such a supportive and inclusive community.
