Devon Hedrick-Shaw

  • Current PhD Student
  • SCHOOL OF EDUCATION

Devon (he/him/his) is a doctoral student in the School of Education focusing his studies on teacher learning and bilingual education. He is interested in issues related to the preparation of teachers serving emergent bi/multilingual students and communities, particularly the learning experiences of teachers prepared through alternative certification pathways. Devon’s research interests are informed by his time as a bilingual elementary teacher and teacher educator in New York City. As a student in the CLASP Graduate Certificate Program, Devon hopes to gain deeper understandings of the ways in which sociolinguistic/cultural contexts shape the development of novice bilingual educators in the US.
