Safety Alert: Attempted sex assault reported near Macky Auditorium
On Sept. 25, 2016, at approximately 1a.m., the CU Boulder Police Department (“CUPD”) was notified of an attempted sexual assault.A police officer was flagged down and notified that the crime occurred a few minutes earlier in the area near the intersection of 17th Street and University Avenue, just north of Macky Auditorium.
The victim reported that she had been walking along University Avenue when she noticed the suspect walking behind her.The suspect put his arm around the victim.After the victim rejected the suspect, the suspect grabbed the victim’s shirt and pulled the victim to the ground.After the victim fought the suspect off, heran south toward Macky.
The suspect is described as:
- College-age black male
- approximately 6’1” to 6’2” tall
- with an average build
- a small and shaggy beard and a mustache
- wearing a CU sweatshirt andlong pants
