Research Interests

Dr. West's background is in computational quantum theory. He is interested in the interface between quantum systems and classical computing, including classical simulation of many-body quantum systems, classical computing in quantum cryptography, and quantum approaches to problems in classical computing and complexity theory.Ìý

Dr. West also maintains an association with the Physics Education Research group. His interests in pedagogical research include teaching tools for advanced topics in quantum theory,Ìýnovel teaching methods in introductory physics for life science (IPLS) courses, and improved approaches to laboratory coursework, including course-based undergraduate research experiences (CUREs).Ìý
