Jack Burns of the Â鶹ÊÓƵ and Gregg Hallinan of the California Institute of Technology have sketched out a way to execute the mission in a NASA-funded report published last month. <a href="https://www.space.com/farside-moon-radio-astronomy-mission-concept.html" rel="nofollow">Read more...</a></p></div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <h2> <div class="paragraph paragraph--type--ucb-related-articles-block paragraph--view-mode--default"> <div>Off</div> </div> </h2> <div>Traditional</div> <div>0</div> <div>On</div> <div>White</div> Sun, 15 Dec 2019 20:48:50 +0000 Anonymous 1347 at /ness CubeSat to Blaze a Trail for Lunar Gateway /ness/2019/09/17/cubesat-blaze-trail-lunar-gateway <span>CubeSat to Blaze a Trail for Lunar Gateway</span> <span><span>Anonymous (not verified)</span></span> <span><time datetime="2019-09-17T10:02:04-06:00" title="Tuesday, September 17, 2019 - 10:02">Tue, 09/17/2019 - 10:02</time> </span> <div> <div class="imageMediaStyle focal_image_wide"> <img loading="lazy" src="/ness/sites/default/files/styles/focal_image_wide/public/article-thumbnail/an_artists_impression_of_capstone._tyvak_nano-satellite_systems_0.png?h=fa2a7162&amp;itok=smzS8qQe" width="1200" height="600" alt="An artist's impression of Capstone. The mission consists of a 12U CubeSat the size of a microwave oven, and it could launch in late 2020.</p> <p>NASA plans to return to the Moon with its Artemis program, sister to the Apollo program of the 1960s and 1970s. As part of this program, NASA is building a Lunar Gateway outpost, which will be &nbsp;placed in a near-rectilinear halo orbit around the Moon.From this unique vantagepoint, the Lunar Gateway will eventually be dispatching crewed missions on expeditions to the lunar polar regions. Capstone will test the viability of this unique orbit. <a href="https://www.skyandtelescope.com/astronomy-blogs/astronomy-space-david-dickinson/cubesat-to-blaze-a-trail-for-lunar-gateway/" rel="nofollow">Read more...</a></p></div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <h2> <div class="paragraph paragraph--type--ucb-related-articles-block paragraph--view-mode--default"> <div>Off</div> </div> </h2> <div>Traditional</div> <div>0</div> <div>On</div> <div>White</div> Tue, 17 Sep 2019 16:02:04 +0000 Anonymous 1257 at /ness
