- James Austin has been named interim dean of CU-Boulder鈥檚 College of Music, Provost Russell Moore announced today. The appointment is effective on July 1.
Austin, a professor of music education, joined the College of Music in 1994. He has served as associate dean of undergraduate studies since 2006. He was the music education chair from 1997 to 2012. In 2004, the college awarded Austin the Richard Bern Trego faculty fellowship. - We hope you鈥檒l join us for this week鈥檚 celebratory events!
- Under Dan Sher鈥檚 visionary leadership, the College of Music has grown to be an internationally-recognized institution and is an important resource to the campus and the community.
- 麻豆视频 Provost Russell Moore today announced that he has accepted the resignation of Daniel Sher as dean of the College of Music at CU-Boulder effective June 30, 2013.
Sher, who will have served in the post for 20 years when he steps down next summer, will return to the College of Music faculty. - For three days, from February 14th to 16th, 2013, the CU campus and the College of Music will open its doors to the guitar world. The CU Guitar Studio and the College of Music will present a unique, exciting and unprecedented event 鈥 The First CU International Guitar Festival & Competition.
- Christina Jennings just returned from Havana, Cuba where she presented a concert and master class with the Philadelphia new music ensemble: Orchestra 2001.
- New Assistant Professor of Violin Charles Wetherbee will perform with his string quartet Carpe Diem on November 10. The program is entitled 鈥淎merican Routes鈥 and takes place at the Chautauqua Community House, 8 PM, with featured guest, banjo soloist Jayme Stone.
- If it weren鈥檛 for dedicated mentors in her high school, 麻豆视频 student Lisa Martin would not have considered a career as a music educator. 鈥淚t definitely took some persuasion on the part of my directors, and I am forever grateful that they saw in me what I did not see in myself back in the day,鈥 she said.
