Our Entrepreneurship Center for Music recently hosted a very special evening with the Boston Public Quartet (BPQ). The event featured a student-led discussion of Diversity, Equity + Inclusion (DEI) in the chamber music world with members of BPQ, followed by a performance of works by BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and other People of Color) composers Jessie Montgomery, Florence Beatrice Price and Jeraldine Herbison. College of Music students who led the discussion included (from center) pianist Jerimiah Owens, two members of our Graduate Quartet-in-Residence鈥擨valas Quartet violinists Reuben Kebede and Tiani Butts鈥攁nd pianist Elizabeth Smith.

Among other events and activities, on Nov. 5, Professor of Musicology Laurie Sampsel will present 鈥淎 Guided Tour of Colorado Songs,鈥� providing insight into 20 songs inspired by the Centennial State.听!

• Lleva Nuestras Voces: On Nov. 6, join our American Music Research Center听in celebrating the legacy of the Chicano Movement as it carries on in the words and music of Chicanx performers today. Colorado Poet Laureate Bobby LeFebre will present a virtual reading of his work, followed by a live, in-person performance by pop/hip-hop group 2MX2 in this free event.
