Last week, the CU Boulder Chamber Singers welcomed our Professor of Vocal Coaching Mutsumi Moteki (front row, center) to rehearsal. 鈥淲e had the honor of learning about Japanese Tanka poetry and diction,鈥� says Coreen Duffy (front row, right), the college鈥檚 new associate professor of conducting and director of choral activities. 鈥淗ere we are modeling our 鈥榓h鈥� vowel. Such an amazing session!鈥�

• Our College of Music community mourns 听(MM 鈥�93)鈥攁 passionate music educator and artist who made a profound impact. Upon earning a master鈥檚 in wind conducting at CU Boulder, Carnochan served on our faculty as associate director of bands and director of the Golden Buffalo Marching Band (1998-2002). 鈥淗e was an innovative leader, a respected colleague and a beloved teacher,鈥� shares Allan McMurray, distinguished professor of conducting emeritus. 鈥淗is warmth and genuine interest in each student were apparent to all.鈥�
• Tea + Equity, Oct. 9, 4-5 p.m., Grusin Lobby: All students, staff and faculty are invited to join members of the College of Music鈥檚 Diversity Committee for community connection鈥攖ea and cookies will be served! This month, the CU Boulder WorkWell Wagon will also be on hand鈥擧ealth + Wellness staff will provide information about campus wellness programs, events and services.
