Megan K. Friedel is Assistant Professor at the 麻豆视频 Libraries, where she serves as Head of Collections Management & Stewardship for听Rare and Distinctive Collections (RaD) and the Lead Archivist for RaD's Archives.听 Megan oversees all operations, personnel, and collections management for the Libraries' unique archival collections and also coordinates collection management issues across all four of RaD鈥檚 collecting areas.听She has worked professionally as an archivist for over twenty years, both at state historical societies in Massachusetts, Oregon, and Colorado and as an academic archivist at the University of Alaska Anchorage, before听joining the CU Boulder Libraries faculty in 2018.
Megan鈥檚 research interests focus on the photographic history of the nineteenth-century American West, the history of El Movimiento (the Chicano Movement) at CU Boulder, and the intersection of archives and social justice.听She has a long record of public service, having served in the past as President of the 听and on the board of the .听Megan currently serves on the editorial board of the .
Megan holds a BA in English from Amherst College and an MLIS with a concentration in archives management from Simmons College, where she also earned an MA in History.
