Steve Bosley earned a bachelor’s degree in real estate from the Â鶹ÊÓƵ in 1968. In 2003, the university awarded him an honorary doctorate.

Bosley represented the residents of Colorado for 12 years on the CU Board of Regents, elected in 2004 and 2010. He served two years as board chair, one year as board vice chair, and 10 years asÌý chair of the Investment Advisory Committee. He was also chair of the Budget and Finance Committee, and Laws and Policies Committee, and vice chair of the Intercollegiate Athletics Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee.

Bosley has delivered leadership lectures in the Leeds School of Business, President’s Leadership Program, and CU’s NROTC & AROTC senior leadership classes. He was a founding member of the Deming Entrepreneurship Advisory Board in the Leeds School of Business.

Bosley worked in Colorado’s banking and finance industry for more than 35 years. He served as president and CEO of the independent Bank of Boulder from 1974 to 1998. Gov. Richard Lamm appointed him to the Colorado State Banking Board.

In 1979, Bosley merged his running and fitness enthusiasm with his entrepreneurial passion and, with U.S. Olympic Gold and Silver medalist Frank Shorter, founded the world-renowned BOLDERBoulder 10K road race, a Memorial Day tradition for 41 years that draws 50,000 amateur and professional runners from around the globe, and an estimated 50,000 spectators on the course and the finish at CU’s Folsom Stadium.Ìý

Bosley has received state and national awards and recognition for his professional and civic endeavors: CU Leeds School of Business Alumni Lifetime Service Award (2017); Esprit Entrepreneur Lifetime Achievement Award, Boulder Chamber of Commerce (2012); Ernst & Young Institute Entrepreneur of the Year—Rocky Mountain Region (1996); Boulder County Business Hall of Fame (1998); Boy Scouts of America, Boulder Distinguished Citizen of the Year (1991); and Boulder Rotary Club’s Service Above Self Award.

Bosley has served in many leadership and volunteer capacities, including: board memberships with the Mountain States Legal Foundation, Boulder Center for Sports Medicine (founding member), Boulder Technology Incubator, and Colorado Legislative Task Force on Higher Education.

Since the end of his term on the CU Board of Regents, he has continued his service to CU: CU Boulder Benson Center for the Study of Western Civilization—donor’s representative on the Search Committee for Visiting Scholars in Conservative Thought and Policy; chairman of the board of the CU Boulder Enterprise Corporation with its first planned project, the on-campus conference center and hotel; Center for Leadership advisory board; Conference on World Affairs board of directors observer.

Bosley has five married children and 13 grandchildren. His interests include being a grandpa, physical fitness, water skiing, biking, reading, swimming, boating, fishing and hunting.
