Professor Tan’s laboratory is mainly interested in the interdisciplinary research at the cross-section of nano-materials and mechanics with vascular medicine. The main research goal of the lab is to improve fundamental understanding as to how material properties and mechanical stresses play critical roles in remodeling or regeneration of blood vessels, and based on this understanding, to develop new therapeutic or diagnostic approaches for cardiovascular diseases. Our lab currently has several projects, all aiming at understanding the roles of materials and mechanics in arterial disease, remodeling or regeneration
