Aaron his currently a Lecturer (Assistant Professor equivalent in the Australian system) in Humanitarian Engineering in the at the where his research and teaching focus on disaster recovery and sustainable development. Following his doctoral work, he consulted for , assessing long-term outcomes of the "" in humanitarian programming after the 2010 Haiti earthquake and served as a Disaster Risk Reduction and Managment Program Officer with  in the Philippines. Aaron's doctoral research focused on post-disaster shelter reconstruction in the Philippines following Typhoon Haiyan in 2013 where he explored inter-organizational coordination, stakeholder participation, and training across 19 humanitarian shelter programs. His work was supported through the National Science Foundation  project and he was awarded a United States Agency for International Development Office of US Foreign Disaster Assistance (USAID/OFDA) Humanitarian Shelter and Settlements Fellowship. As a part of his practicum for the Certificate in Engineering for Developing Communties, Aaron worked for  as a staff engineer in response to Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines providing techincal guidance on housing reconstruction.
