In a in The Journal of Chemical Physics (special edition: Festschrift in honor of Louis Brus), Katie Shulenberger et. al. analyze power-dependent ultrafast transient absorption experiments on CdSe quantum dots with varying diameters and surface-capping ligands to quantitatively extract the spectra of excitons and biexcitons. They find that biexciton intensities are lower than usually assumed and uncover the impact of surface chemistry on spectral shapes and absolute intensities.
