Dr. E. Michael Thurman, PhD, is a highly cited scientist in environmental chemistry with over 16,000 citations (h-index of 58) and an Emeritus Scientist with the U.S. Geological Survey, where he worked on pesticide and groundwater chemistry for 30 years. ÌýHe is currently Director of the Laboratory for Environmental Mass Spectrometry (at the Laboratory for Sustainability of Energy and the Environment, SEEL) at the University of Colorado, in Boulder, Colorado, USA.Ìý The mass spectrometry Laboratory, CEMS, is a research collaboration between the University of Colorado and Agilent Technologies, Inc.Ìý His bibliography consists of more than 200 publications in environmental chemistry, including more than 150 journal articles.Ìý Dr. Thurman has published six books dedicated to the chemical analysis of pesticides and natural products, sample preparation, and liquid and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, and accurate mass analysis.Ìý His environmental research is currently focused on hydraulic fracturing and the analysis of produced and flowback wastewater by advanced mass spectrometry techniques.Ìý Other recent research projects include the analysis and occurrence of pesticides and pharmaceuticals in drinking water, wastewater, and groundwater.Ìý He is also actively involved in supporting research activities on water treatment at the Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Colorado, Boulder, CO, USA.
