ISSS is excited to announce the launch of the ISSS Post-Completion OPT Essentials Course. This course is accessible in and includes 5 short videos followed by 10 quiz questions. The course will help international students in F-1 status better understand post-completion OPT. The course reviews the post-completion OPT application process and reporting requirements. ISSS has developed this course to better prepare and support our students seeking post-completion OPT authorization. 

As of September 1, 2022, students who wish to apply for post-completion OPT are required to successfully complete the ISSS Post-Completion OPT Essentials Course prior to completing the . Once students have completed the course with a score of 7/10 or higher, they should print out their score page.

  • Student are required to upload proof of successful completion of the course in the .ÌýÌý

Before electronically filing the Form I-765 with USCIS online, students must first receive a NEW I-20 from ISSS recommending Post-Completion OPT by submitting the .ÌýÌý

How do I access the ISSS Post-Completion OPT Essentials Course in Canvas?

  • Login with your IdentiKey credentials 
  • You will be brought to a webpage that asks if you want to enroll in the course. Select Yes or Enroll in Course.ÌýÌý
  • You should then have access to the course 

How do I print my score page?  

After you complete the quiz with a score of at least 70% (7/10 questions answered correctly), go to the Grades page and then select "Print Grades" to print the page as a PDF. You will upload the PDF that shows your name, grade you received, and the date to the An example score page is below.ÌýÌý

Is this course also for pre-completion OPT?  

No. The ISSS Post-Completion OPT Essentials Course is only required for students in F-1 status who wish to apply for the post-completion OPT benefit.ÌýÌý

What happens if I do not score a 7/10 or higher?  

Students who do not achieve the required 7/10 score can review the course and retake the quiz as many times as needed until they achieve a score of 7/10 or higher. ISSS will not issue an I-20 recommending post-completion OPT until you have successfully completed the ISSS Post-Completion OPT Essentials Course with a score of 7/10 or higher.
