Where to Find Startup Jobs
The startup job and internship search often looks a bit different than looking for roles at bigger companies. Startups may not have job pages on their websites, contact information may be difficult to find, and jobs/internships may not get posted on a regular basis like you’ll see with bigger corporations and organizations.Ìý
Here are some tips to help you more easily find startup jobs and internships:
- Come toÌýStartups2Students! CU Boulder hosts Startups2Students multiple times a year to connect students with fresh startup jobs. Startups pitch themselves to students and then have the chance to network afterwards. Our next event is this Wednesday, the 29th and youÌý!
- Network! It may seem intimidating but networking is really just meeting people and making meaningful connections. It is an essential skill in the startup world and a great way to find a job or internship. Consider the many events hosted on campus through theÌýInnovation & Entrepreneurship Initiative and campus partners as a starting point. You never know who you’ll meet atÌýNew Venture Challenge or community events likeÌý.
- Find Roles on Handshake! This article shares tips for how to easily find jobs and internships posted by local startups on Handshake. Positions and companies are updated regularly with roles in just about every field. Save your search to make it easier to stay in touch with the newest positions available.
- Search On Public Job Boards!ÌýWhile it may be a bit more difficult, you can still find startup roles on online job boards and forums. Consider websites likeÌý, or the social groups f´Ç°ùÌý ´Ç°ùÌý to follow startups you like and learn about new job postings.
- Reach Out! Do you have a startup or two in mind that you really like and can see as a future workplace? Check out their website and look for a contact page or reach out to an employee via LinkedIn. Start with a soft introduction of yourself and why this company appeals to you. Follow with an ask about open positions now or in the near future.
