AnnePresident Obama has named CIRES Anne Perring, an atmospheric scientist who works at NOAA in Boulder, as one of 102 young scientists and engineers to receive the prestigious Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers.

The award is the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government on early career science and engineering professionals.

鈥淚 congratulate these outstanding scientists and engineers on their impactful work,鈥 President Obama said in a statement Monday. 鈥淭hese innovators are working to help keep the United States on the cutting edge, showing that Federal investments in science lead to advancements that expand our knowledge of the world around us and contribute to our economy.鈥

鈥淚t鈥檚 pretty exciting,鈥 said Perring. 鈥淚鈥檓 especially honored that my department, the Chemical Sciences Division at ESRL, was willing to put in the time to nominate me for this. That feels terrific.鈥
