The team, sponsored by International Affairs, had the exciting opportunity to attend the in Chicago last November. The group had the chance to represent Croatia and Mauritius at the conference. The team won two awards for their exceptional outlines of these countries’ positions.
Apart from the conference, the team had an active fall semester, hosting several key events in Boulder. On November 16th, observed annually as the United Nations International Day for Tolerance, CU Model U.N. joined three other student organizations as part of a panel presentation about encouraging tolerance on college campuses. CU Model U.N. president Justice Mack explained the panel event: “Representatives from each student organization answered questions regarding their personal experiences with intolerance on campus, and gave their opinions on how to best combat these experiences–it was a very meaningful event.â€
In December, CU Model U.N. was the host of the Model United Nations Conference for high school students across Colorado. Over 200 students from across the state learned about international issues and practiced their diplomatic skills. The team looks forward to continuing their meaningful involvement on campus and nation-wide, and offering students the opportunity to experience international diplomacy and negotiations firsthand.
