Graduate Student Academic Recovery Plan

Academic Recovery Plan Information

Graduate students are required to maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA in all work attempted while enrolled in the Graduate School, and must also meet all program-specific requirements. The Graduate School may request that a student complete an Academic Recovery Plan (ARP) for two reasons.

  1. Cumulative GPA below 3.0

The cumulative GPA is well below the minimum standard (2.5 or lower) or the conditions of a previous academic warning period were not met.

  • The student and graduate program will have received notification from the Graduate School indicating that the program must make a recommendation as to a student’s continuation in the program.ÌýÌý
  • If the program recommends that the student continue on academic warning, the ARP must be completed.
  • If the program does not recommend that the student continue in the program, they must reach out to the Graduate School to recommend dismissal from the program.

Ìý Ìý 2.Ìý Unsatisfactory Progress Report

A progress report has indicated that a student is not making adequate academic progress related to program-specific requirements.

In both cases, students must work closely with their faculty advisor (and in some cases the Director of Graduate Studies) to create a recovery and support plan by which they can return to good academic standing.ÌýAdditional information regarding academic standing can be found in theÌýGraduate School Rules.
