John Pellegrino's research focus is on membrane materials science and technology, and applications within water, energy systems, and processes for sustainable engineering (manufacturing). Examples of current projects include studying crystallization during water desalination; nanoscale-patterning of membrane surfaces; making nanoparticles better and less costly; and studying multifunctional, membrane-based electrodes for flexible power systems. Previous (recent) projects have included research focused on biomass (lignocellulosic and algae) utilization.
