The best opportunity that has occurred to me here in CU Boulder has been the ability to really pursue and develop my love and interest for chemistry. I get to speak to like minded people about projects I want to begin through my lectures, labs, and especially my professors who have connected me to many wonderful individuals. The opportunity to really network with others in the STEM community is something I am very grateful for and lucky enough to have.Â
The BBC scholarship has helped me in numerous way like being more connected to the Boulder community outside and inside CU Boulder. It has also been a great financial support for me as it has allowed me to continue my studies here at the university. I come from a single-parent household and a low income community and this scholarship has been the extra push to help my family and I have a better future. If it weren’t for this extra aid my possibilities of being here would of been less likely and would of been stuck working a 9 to 5 job back in my hometown instead of pursuing my dreams in STEM.Â
My future plans is to graduate with my MCDB major in four years and after attend CU Anschutz to get my doctorate/Phd in pharmacy and pharmaceutical science to become forensic toxicologist. Hopefully with my future career I will be able to make an impact in the low income communities here in Colorado as they are the least helped and recognize by society. As well as, being a Hispanic/Latino representative in white-collar jobs to inspire others que sà se puede!
