ExxonMobil Corporation has partnered with the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) to create fellowship opportunities in the STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) for Hispanic college students. Through HHF’s Latinos On Fast Track (LOFT) program, ExxonMobil seeks to nurture motivated college students across the country, with a passion for Engineering and Science.

Christina Barstow is the recipient of the 2020 Recent Alumni Award. She earned a PhD in Environmental Engineering in 2016 and has published over a dozen peer reviewed papers.

Cresten is continually occupied by understanding the interaction between humans, material transformation, and microbial processes on multiple scales (industrial, municipal, riverine). His most recent projects include modelling the community dynamics involved in wastewater microbial systems, determining the interaction of Eukaryotic microbes with trace organic contaminants in municipal waste, and tracking the influence of the treated wastewater treatment plant effluent on riverine systems.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate Office of University Programs sponsors the Professional Opportunities for Student Workforce to Experience Research (HS-POWER) Program for undergraduate and graduate students. HS-POWER is open to students majoring in a broad spectrum of homeland security related science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines as well as DHS mission-relevant research areas.
