Spend the summer working at the Niwot Ridge Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) project鈥檚 high-altitude field site above Boulder, Colorado! The Niwot Ridge LTER is an integrated research community in which scientists are studying animals, plants, climate, hydrology, limnology, biogeochemistry and more with the goal of understanding ecological processes in high-elevation mountain ecosystems, particularly in the context of changing climatic conditions.
Summer field techs work independently or with small teams on a variety of projects, including animal and plant surveys, alpine lake sampling and meteorological instrument installation and maintenance, as well as some data entry and lab work. Positions are from late June to the end of August, with some flexibility depending on availability and project needs, and will average 36-40 hours per week with pay beginning at $15/hr. Daily transportation via shuttle from Boulder to and from the CU Mountain Research Station (north of Nederland) will be available.
Applicants must be able to hike and work outdoors at a high altitude in rugged and often cold, windy, or stormy conditions. Previous experience with field work is a plus. Undergraduates, recent graduates and graduate students in biology, ecology, environmental science, geography, geology and related fields are encouraged to apply.

(6) Will you be available to work for 36-40 hours per week, Monday through Friday?
