Apply to Become a Research Experience Mentor

EARN $800 FOR YOUR LAB

July 1 - 26, 2019

Science Â鶹ÊÓƵy's STEM Research Experience is a 4-week summer program in which CU Boulder faculty and graduate students act as mentors to highly motivated high school students interested in gaining real world laboratory experience.

Each mentor will be assigned 2 high school students to shadow them in the lab and assist as needed, which could include taking data, analyzing data, taking pictures, doing background research on an area you'd like to get into, setting up a new piece of equipment and more. Students are expecting to work 30-35 hours per week. The goal is to have students involved in projects that help the lab move forward. This is meant to be a true 'research experience' and give the students a taste of real research. Students will have the opportunity to attend a Research Methods seminar where they will learn proper writing techniques, the process for creating a scientific poster, how to do a literature search, and the process for getting your work published. During the course of this program, students will be developing a poster to present at the culminating Research Experience Expo on July 26, 2019.Ìý

As a thank you for your participation, mentors receive an $800 grant to use as they wish.
