Ricardo Simmonds is a Ph.D. student in the Environmental Studies program at the Â鶹ÊÓƵ. His academic interest in environment, ethics and religion developed during his undergraduate studies at Bowdoin College in Maine, and later in Peru at the Facultad de Teología Pontificia y Civil de Lima. He received a Master of Science degree in 2011 from CU Boulder with a focus on climate science, policy and philosophy and his thesis was entitled “Truth and Climate Change: Pragmatist Truth Confronted by Habermas and Ratzinger in the Context of Climate Changeâ€.

Ricardo is a professional consultant on integral ecology, focusing on the intersection of climate science, environmental policy, theology and Catholic social teaching. He has represented the US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) on climate and environmental policy with members of the US congress and administration, secular institutions, religious organizations and the Vatican. He is the founder of , an environmental non-profit based in Colorado that integrates faith, ecology and service to the poor in thought, prayer and action.
