Effective for the 2021-22 academic year, the Global Engineering Minor will have a new structure that increases flexibility for students and offers greater access to new undergraduate courses offered by the Mortenson Center in Global Engineering, including:

• A Systems Approach to Global Engineering
• Water Sanitation & Hygiene
• Household Energy Systems in the Global South听and more

Students can choose between听ENES 2360/3360: A Global State of Mind or CVEN 2837: Introduction to Global Engineering. Both of these courses count as H&SS credit, making it easier to "double dip"听between major and minor requirements. Current Global Engineering minor students may choose to complete the requirements under the old or new structure. The Your Own Undergraduate Research Experience at CU program (YOU'RE@CU) is an exciting opportunity to gain practical research experience in engineering by linking with a graduate student mentor. Get hands-on experience during your undergrad that will inspire you to make a world of difference! You'll work on a research project three to five hours per week and participate in a 15-week seminar course for one听credit on research practices during the spring 2021 semester. You will听also develop your own research hypothesis and work through the research process, culminating with a research paper and a poster session.听No prior research experience needed.

Unmask the Racism, a student-run social media campaign, was created at CU Boulder to spread awareness about racism against people of Asian heritage in the United States, specifically as a result of xenophobia brought on by COVID-19. The group aims to听spread hope and support within the Asian American community听and start a conversation about how COVID-19 has been affecting Asian communities, particularly Asian-owned restaurants and businesses. Since beginning the campaign earlier this year, it has gained a modest following on Instagram and recently began fundraising to cater food from a local Asian business to an essential business in the Boulder area to show appreciation for both.

As we approach the holiday season, the听Unmask the Racism team is encouraging students听to give back to the community and volunteer. 听to explore different options to contribute and volunteer for the campaign. If you have听ever wished for improved access between main and east campus, closer dining and recreation options, extra study and collaborative spaces or a more welcoming campus environment, now is the time to speak out and be heard.听The Campus Master Plan project team has launched an interactive mapping exercise to help provide insights related to how people use space on and off campus and to inform how we will grow and adapt. Your responses now will help shape a 10-year planning effort.听

Winter break provides an excellent time to explore education abroad programs and to get a head start on summer and fall 2020 applications. CU Engineering students have a , including global seminars led by CU faculty members, partner programs that offer robust engineering and computing summer courses, and experiential programs where students can engage in internships or research abroad.

Although , it is expected that most summer programs will run in 2021. are available, especially for students with demonstrated financial need. The application deadline for most summer programs is March 1, 2021. Complete to open an application and begin your overseas journey.
