Consider nominating a fellow student who is graduating with their bachelor鈥檚 degree in December 2024 for a College of Engineering and Applied Science award! These seven undergraduate awards bestowed at graduation represent the values of the college and promote important themes among the student body.

Please review the criteria associated with each award and consider entering a nomination by Monday, Oct. 21 (self-nominations are not allowed). If the nominee wishes to be considered for a particular award, they will need to provide further materials to complete their nomination.听Awardees will be notified by mid November.

The Ignite Social Justice & Leadership Conference is an annual one-day, conference-style social justice program. Students will learn, have dialogue, network and engage in a brave space together.

The 2024 conference theme is 鈥淩edefining Justice Toward Equity and Liberation.鈥� They will deconstruct justice through a lens of curiosity and relearn what equity and liberation can look like as a student leader. This year鈥檚 theme explores various forms of activism and liberatory practices while centering the importance of amplifying voices and enacting equitable change.

CU Engineering alumnus Ashok Srivastava (PhDElEngr鈥�96), senior vice president at Intuit, will delve into how Intuit is applying deep domain expertise and human talent across multiple disciplines to responsibly build products for 100 million consumer and small and midsize business customers around the world. You will gain insight into the responsible AI and data governance principles that guide ethical development of AI-driven applications, a generative AI operating system (GenOS) that鈥檚 democratizing development across the company, and the critical role of non-engineering disciplines in shaping responsible AI practices.

The Lab Venture Challenge (LVC) Showcases will feature 14 teams of top innovators from CU who will pitch to a panel of judges and a live audience for grants of up to $125,000. $1.25 million in total funding will be awarded! LVC supports projects in bio- and physical sciences that address a commercial need, have a clear path to a compelling market and have strong scientific support.听

Registration Refreshers
Come join a virtual session with an Engineering Peer Advisor as they help prepare you for Spring 2025 registration. They will walk you through your degree audit, help you select classes for your major, and review enrollment essentials like add/drop/swap. These weekly sessions will run from Oct. 16-Nov. 14 and are found in Buff Portal Advising. Send any general questions to our Engineering Peer Advisors at engineering.advising@colorado.edu.

Peer Academic Coaches are current CU Boulder CEAS undergraduate students who are in junior or senior standing. They meet one-on-one with students to discuss academic skill building strategies that can positively impact studying, test taking, planning and organization! The Athletics Department is hiring students to tutor a variety of subjects. There is no minimum requirement of hours. Work flexible hours based on your schedule. Qualified candidates should have:

• Sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student status
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
• Received an A or B in the course they will tutor
• Prior enrollment in the course they will tutor
