Thursday, Oct. 17. 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Visual Arts Complex, Plaza
Developed and hosted in Boulder since 2018, UROP's Sidewalk Symposium invites undergraduates to create and share their research and creative presentations with chalk on campus walkways鈥攁ll in collaboration with a professional artist.

Thursday, Oct. 17. 11 a.m.鈥�1 p.m., Engineering Center main lobby
Robotic dogs, bugs and jellyfish ... oh my! From shape-morphing insect-scale robots that adapt to their environment to groundbreaking materials that can lift thousands of times their weight, you'll learn about the exciting CU Engineering research shaping the future of robotics and materials science. With hands-on exhibits showcasing innovations in dynamic human-robot interaction, this showcase offers a glimpse into technologies set to transform healthcare, environmental science and beyond.

Friday, Oct. 18. 3-5 p.m.,听 ATLAS Institute, 1125 18th St., Boulder
ATLAS is home to researchers who transcend traditional disciplinary structures of engineering, design, science and art to inspire new realms of invention. Come explore lab and studio tours, demos and interactive technology, and novel ideas and radical creativity.

Consider nominating a fellow student who is graduating with their bachelor鈥檚 degree in December 2024 for a College of Engineering and Applied Science award! These seven undergraduate awards bestowed at graduation represent the values of the college and promote important themes among the student body.

Please review the criteria associated with each award and consider entering a nomination by Monday, Oct. 21 (self-nominations are not allowed). If the nominee wishes to be considered for a particular award, they will need to provide further materials to complete their nomination.听 Awardees will be notified by mid November.

Monday, Oct. 21. 5:45 p.m., Roser ATLAS Center, room 100
CU Engineering alumnus Ashok Srivastava (PhDElEngr鈥�96), senior vice president at Intuit, will delve into how Intuit is applying deep domain expertise and human talent across multiple disciplines to responsibly build products for 100 million consumer and small and midsize business customers around the world. You will gain insight into the responsible AI and data governance principles that guide ethical development of AI-driven applications, a generative AI operating system (GenOS) that鈥檚 democratizing development across the company, and the critical role of non-engineering disciplines in shaping responsible AI practices.

Need help with your spring schedule?听Professional academic advisors鈥痑re your partners in crafting and enhancing your educational experience at CU. They can help you make connections, access resources, understand your degree requirements and more.听Visit Buff Portal Advising鈥痶o make an appointment or to view their office hours for drop-in meetings.

You may have an 鈥渁dvising hold鈥� for an individual appointment, or group advising session, on your student account. These holds will prevent you from enrolling in classes for next semester, so you鈥檒l want to connect with your advisor well ahead of your enrollment appointment. Now would be the perfect time to do so! 鈥�Resolving all holds and to-do items鈥痑re important steps to attend to each term.

And even if you don鈥檛 have an advising hold, your advisor would be happy to meet with you.听 After meeting with an advisor, you will receive a quick survey鈥攚e value your feedback and hope you will take a moment to let us know how we are doing!

Engineering Peer Advisors are knowledgeable, trained and friendly engineering students who can assist you with everything from deciding what major is right for you, customizing your college experience, discovering student societies and organizations, tips on talking with faculty, and much more! Drop-in Advising Hours
Visit the Engineering Peer Advisors webpage for in-person and virtual opportunities to connect. Drop-In advising hours are available throughout the week (visible in Buff Portal Advising).

Registration Refreshers
Come join a virtual session with an Engineering Peer Advisor as they help prepare you for spring 2025 registration. They will walk you through your degree audit, help you select classes for your major, and review enrollment essentials like add/drop/swap. These weekly sessions will run from Oct. 16-Nov. 14 and are found in Buff Portal Advising. Send any general questions to our Engineering Peer Advisors at engineering.advising@colorado.edu.

Peer Academic Coaches meet one-on-one with undergraduate students, who are in junior or senior standing, to discuss academic skill building strategies that can positively impact studying, test taking, planning and organization!

Serving in the Peace Corps is a great way to immerse yourself in a new experience -- building relationships, exchanging cultures and knowledge, and helping transform lives for generations. Learn more volunteering and how to gain skills and experience that will help you qualify for Peace Corps service. There will be time to ask questions too!

Phillips 66 has internship positions open for chemical, mechanical and applied math majors interested in the energy industry! This is largely because they have been extremely impressed with CU Boulder hires. If you are interested in a role in the energy industry as a 2025 university intern, .

The CU Boulder Department of Physics and JILA are hosting the Conference for Undergraduate Women and Gender Minorities in Physics 2025 from Jan. 24-26, 2025. Applications are now open for anyone interested in physics-related careers, graduate education and more. Apply by Wednesday, Oct. 23 by 3 p.m. Financial assistance is available.
