This fellowship gives STEM students policy-making experience and a broadened understanding of the connection between STEM disciplines and lawmaking. Over the course of the summer, fellows will learn about the state legislative process, conduct their own research project, and ultimately pitch their own legislation. The fellowship runs from June 17 to Aug. 9, and fellows will work in Denver directly within legislative offices.Ìý

Develop your teaching and science communication skills! Partnerships for Informal Science Education in the Community (PISEC) is looking for students who want to do fun science experiments after school with kids or advise high school students on engineering projects.Ìý

PISEC is a community partnership-based outreach program run by JILA and the Department of Physics. They work with students from groups underrepresented in STEM and seek to cultivate interest and help students develop a sense of themselves as scientists. As a PISEC volunteer, you will gain valuable experience in scientific communication, mentorship, and teaching. The time commitment is no more than three hours per week for 10 weeks (in some cases, it is much less).Ìý
