The Engineering Center lobby holds fond memories for CU Boulder alumni Ashok Srivastava and Lynn Waelde. The couple met while working on their PhDs 鈥� his in electrical engineering, hers in psychology 鈥� when a mutual friend directed Waelde to Srivastava for a data analysis problem.

As a master's student and graduate part-time instructor, Shayon Gupta has learned a few secrets to success as a data structures instructor: activities like Kahoot quizzes, live 鈥淎sk Me Anything鈥� sessions and physically acting out linked lists, trees and graphs. That, and KitKats.

This week we bid farewell to our #ForeverBuffs, including outstanding graduates like Sarah Withee, who switched careers in her 40s to join Gen Z engineers in the classroom, and Michael Anthony, who learned African dance as a form of cultural preparation for his trip this summer to Eswatini with Engineers in Action. The Materials Characterization Facility in the Colorado Shared Instrumentation in Nanofabrication and Characterization (COSINC) successfully hosted a focused ion beam (FIB) event in mid-April.

Through his tireless efforts as the leader of several student organizations, Elvin Viloria has promoted architectural engineering on campus and strived to increase opportunities for students. He even resurrected the AEI chapter, which had been dormant since 2010, and grew it to more than 50 members.

Having "tech-y" parents who encouraged his interest in computers led Alex Ray to a degree in computer science and now, a job as a software developer with Amazon.

In addition to his academic accomplishments, Jacob Crawford also completed a minor in business and interned at LogRhythm, Sovrn Holdings and Aquatricity. He also participated in HackCU for three years.

William Barham says his years at CU have been among the happiest and certainly most challenging of his life, and they've prepared him to pursue his PhD in Applied and Computational Mathematics at the Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences.

During his time as an undergraduate, Mingxuan Zhang created a pipeline for estimating and characterizing uncertainty in coastal storm surge levels, developed methods for diagnosing and sampling from multimodal distributions and served as a teaching assistant.

Catherine Witt says her first electrical engineering class was incredibly difficult; she had to work incredibly hard just to keep up. Now she's graduating at the top of her class and continuing toward her PhD.
