Manjeet Pandey, a graduate research assistant at CU Boulder pursuing a master’s degree in civil engineering, was recognized by ASCE as a 2024 New Face of Civil Engineering for his contributions. After experiencing the 2015 Nepal earthquake during his final undergraduate exam, Pandey went on to lead efforts to build community hospitals and schools.

Distinguished Professor Zoya Popovic is among 162 inventors named 2023 fellows of the National Academy of Inventors. Election as a fellow in the academy is the highest professional distinction awarded solely to inventors.

CU Boulder's journey toward gender parity in engineering is a clear signal that diversity in STEM is achievable. In just two decades, CEAS has transformed its engineering landscape, growing its female undergraduate class from 18% in 2003 to 30% in 2023. CEAS’s fall 2023 class, includes 41% female students, up 27% from two decades ago. CU Boulder clinched a top spot in 2022 for the highest percentage of first-year female engineering students from the American Society for Engineering Education.

A team led by environmental engineer Evan Thomas has received a $650,000 Convergence Accelerator grant from the National Science Foundation, to measure and mitigate pollution in the Cache la Poudre and Yampa Rivers in Colorado through new sensor technology, monitoring, and a voluntary carbon credits trading system with industry.

Since retiring in 2017 from CU Boulder’s Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, Professor Dave Clough has collaborated on three textbooks. He’s also regularly involved with students, participating in PhD committees and undergraduate activities alike.

Professor Daniel K. Schwartz was honored with the prestigious American Chemical Society (ACS) Division of Colloid and Surface Chemistry 2024 Langmuir Lectureship award for significant contributions to the field of colloid and interface science.
