The First Level Review Committee serves as a college committee. It is charged with providing independent recommendations on reappointment, promotion and tenure based on an assessment of the research, teaching and service contributions of each candidate and their future potential. Approximately 12 full professors are appointed following discussion by the dean and the department chairs. Members nominally serve three-year terms and may be reappointed for additional terms at the discretion of the dean. The dean听appoints the chair of the committee and a vice chair from a different unit than the chair.听
