Monique brings over 20 years of leadership experience in organizational design, employee development, organizational culture change management, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. In her role as chief diversity and inclusion officer at USAA, she led an organizational development process focused on retention and culture across their 36,000 employees. Her work history positions her as a champion for employee development and equity. I am thrilled to welcome her to the team in this key leadership position.
The Assistant Dean for Organizational Development, Culture, and Equity role will provide strategic leadership of the staff by identifying and executing organizational development initiatives. Monique will be the college’s HR leader, responsible for leading the college’s DEI strategy as it relates to the more than 250 staff across the college. She will be focused on developing sustainable methodologies for equitable staff recruitment, hiring, and retention to build a diverse workforce. She will co-lead the Inclusive Culture Council and will lead efforts to address equity issues. In this role, she will work in close collaboration with the faculty, student and campus DEI leaders.
In January, I shared the college’s emerging DEI leadership structure. The Assistant Dean for Organizational Development, Culture, and Equity will play a key role on this team. We are able to create this new role through Doug Smith’s retirement and Cherie Summers’ subsequent transition to a role with a consolidated focus on facilities, health, safety, and IT. As we move through strategic planning, we continue to affirm that diversity, equity, and inclusion are core values for our college. I am working with college leadership to build resources and capacity that will help us move forward to our goals. Monique’s expertise and voice will be a critical addition.
Please join me in welcoming Monique to the CU Boulder community.
Sincerely,
Keith Molenaar
Dean, College of Engineering and Applied Science
