Please consider who is graduating with their bachelor鈥檚 degree in May or August 2022 for a college award! These undergraduate awards, bestowed at graduation, represent the values of the college and promote important themes among the student body.听

Any CU faculty or staff member, or a fellow student, can nominate a graduating student for an award (no self-nominations).听Please review the award criteria associated with each of the eight award categories.听All criteria for each award must be addressed by nominators, and a good is available for your reference. by Tuesday, Feb. 22.听

The Colorado Shared Instrumentation in Nanofabrication and Characterization facility will host a webinar from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Feb. 1 on 鈥淣anoscale Material Characterization Techniques: Scanning Electron Microscopy vs Atomic Force Microscopy with an Introduction to the DriveAFM.鈥� This webinar will discuss two common microscopy-based methods that provide nanoscale information: scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and scanning probe microscopy/atomic force microscopy (SPM/AFM).

The webinar will also introduce the capabilities of the new DriveAFM, coming soon to COSINC-CHR. Registration for the COSINC webinar is required.

• Andrew Goodwin, Jennifer Cha, Christopher Bowman and Stephanie Bryant of chemical and biological engineering and Wei Zhang of chemistry have received a $910,200 Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need award from the Department of Education for 鈥淓ngineering Polymer Materials for Energy and Sustainability.鈥�
• Karl Linden of civil, environmental and architectural engineering has been named a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science 鈥渇or fundamental contributions toward understanding the role of clouds and aerosols in the climates of Earth and other planets, and for warning the world of the dangers of nuclear weapons.鈥�
• Wil Srubar of civil, environmental and architectural engineering received a four-year, $776,800 award from Columbia University (National Science Foundation prime) for 鈥淔MRG: Eco: Process-Structure-Property Relationships of 3D Printed Earth Materials and Structures.鈥� Srubar will collaborate with Lola Ben-Alon and Shiho Kasashima from Columbia.
