Kathryn Tobey

Kathryn Tobey is an aerospace leader focused on national security space and the future of space competitiveness. She completed a 34 year career as the Vice President and General Manager for the $3Bn Lockheed Martin Space, Special Programs Line of Business, a broad portfolio of advanced programs and development contracts dedicated to delivering high performance systems and innovative concepts for critical national security space applications.
Kathryn has held leadership positions in functional organizations and program/portfolio management. Her leadership experience spans design, production and operation of space systems, business development, strategic planning, and large-scale system engineering. She has assembled many high performing teams and is passionate about building enduring relationships with stakeholders. She is on the Board of Trustees for Utah State Space Dynamics Lab, the Space Enterprise Advisory Group for the US Space Force and a Senior Advisor to McKinsey for Aerospace.
Kathryn joined the EMP faculty in 2018 and developed the “Engineering Management in the Aerospace Industry” certificate for aspiring leaders. She teaches technical leadership and global topics related to the aerospace industry.
Kathryn holds a BS ChemE and ME Engineering Management from CU Boulder and has been presented the CU Boulder Norlin Award and Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award.
