Biography

Shannon is a professional engineer and LEED AP®, with a Bachelor of Science degree from Colorado State University and an ME in Engineering Management from Â鶹ÊÓƵ. Shannon is the Principle campus mechanical engineer for CU Boulder, where she holds a diverse set of responsibilities from commissioning agent, to AHJ, to supporting energy conservation projects and initiatives campus-wide. She also is one of the officers for I2SL Colorado chapter for . Shannon has more than seven years experience as a consulting engineer for clients that primarily focus on industrial, laboratories, data centers, institutional, high-tech, and educational facilities, and twelve years of experience working as a facilities engineer for a semi-conductor/inkjet facility and a higher education learning institute.

What made you decide to pursue a degree or certificate in Engineering Management?

Why did you choose the Engineering Management Program at CU Boulder?
Instructors, reputation and values.

How did the program help you in your career?
It has supported my growth into a leadership role.

What was your favorite graduate EMEN class/professor? Why?
This is a hard one as I really enjoyed all of the professors. Kathy Tobey - because I connected with how she approaches things and also feel she has expanded my way of thinking. John Svoboda - because he is very engaging and his classes were fun. Dr Moorer - because he was always open to different perspectives. Between all of them, I feel as if it has informed and shaped my professional and personal life into a wholistic perspective.

What advice would you give a new student in the program?
It is a great program and feel it would be beneficial for anyone, even if you are not interested in leadership.

How would you summarize your experience with the program? 
I feel the program has helped me develop personally and professionally.Â
