Q&A

What made you decide to pursue a degree or certificate in Engineering Management?
I thought this degree would compliment the management experience I gained in the Air Force, and keep my education a little more balanced beyond just Space.

Why did you choose the Engineering Management Program at CU Boulder?
I was a student assistant for the program as an undergrad, and was impressed with the curriculum and professors.

How did the program help you in your career?
It's a little early to tell, but it has helped me understand the business side of my company and I'm sure will help when I decide to apply to a management position.

What was your favorite graduate EMEN class/professor? Why?
Wayne Kirschling was probably my favorite professor; he had great stories and asked thought provoking questions in the best way. EMEN 5030, Project Management, was probably my favorite class because project management interests me.

What advice would you give a new student in the program?
Stay open minded, even about topics that aren't your favorite. As Wayne Kirschling pointed out to my class, this degree "diversifies yourself" in the same way one should diversify a stock portfolio.

How would you summarize your experience with the program?
An excellent all-around program that has me feeling prepared to move into higher ranks of business.
