IDEA Plan and IDEA Council
IDEA Plan
In 2015, a collaborative group of campus leaders began developing a diversity, equity and inclusion blueprint for CU Boulder. In 2019, the group delivered the Inclusion, Diversity and Excellence in Academics (IDEA) Plan, outlining goals for climate, infrastructure and leadership in addition to specific recommendations and actions for creating and sustaining a more inclusive campus community for current and future students, staff and faculty.Â
IDEA Council
The IDEA Council — a body of students, staff and faculty — held an inaugural meeting in 2020. Charged with prioritizing recommendations in the IDEA Plan, the council advocated for strategies and priorities to meet the plan’s goals. The campus group also recommended infrastructure and strategies for implementing recommendations stemming from the plan by conducting assessments and publishing the results.Â
These are completed recommendations from the IDEA Council:
- Staff and faculty affinity groups
- Diversity, equity and inclusion impact grant program
- All-gender bathrooms
- Land acknowledgment with a commitment to support Indigenous/Native American students, staff and faculty
- Faculty mentoring programs
- Faculty merit assessment of diversity, equity and inclusion work plan
