For the first time in school history, CU changed head coaches in both men’s and women’s basketball in the same off-season.
The men’s basketball team went 8-0 at home during the non-conference season, the Buffs’ best start at the Coors Events Center in 27 years.
With a couple of freshmen from Colorado providing a lift, the women’s basketball team posted its second-best non-conference record in Kathy McConnell-Miller’s five seasons as CU coach.
Both basketball teams will play in Colorado plenty of times in the early part of the season.

<p>The men’s basketball team finished with the most losses in a season in program history, which dates back to 1901, and with its second-worst in-conference winning percentage ever. </p>
<p>The women’s basketball team capped off its nonconference schedule with five straight wins and a championship in the Paradise Classic in Hawaii, where forward Brittany Spears was named most valuable player. </p>
<p>The men’s basketball team finished the nonconference season with an 8-6 record for the second consecutive year under coach Jeff Bzdelik.</p>
