Colorado running back Rodney “Speedy” Stewart rushed an average of 93 yards in his first seven games of the season.
Despite a 3-4 start to the season, the football team lost its first two games played outside Colorado by a combined 78-7, extending its woeful road record.
As of mid-season, the Buffs had lost 15 straight games outside of the state, dating back to October 2007. In those games, CU has been outscored 525-262.
The Buffs did come up with a big two-point win at home against Georgia in October on the night CU hosted a 20-year reunion for its 1990 national title-winning team. Six coaches and about 80 players returned for the celebratory weekend.
“It’s been a tremendously emotional time,” former CU standout Alfred Williams (Soc ex’91) said about the event. “To see guys you haven’t seen in 20 years, to see how everyone has grown older — and to remember how we were so close … it’s been great.”
